From a younger son of a baron, he rose to be the most powerful and celebrated Jouster in ‘Europe’; He was a Knight Marshal of England; he was one of the closest military and political advisors to no less than 5 Kings; he became Regent of the Angevin Empire; at the age of 70, in full armour he lead a cavalry charge into York to reclaim it from the French and the Barons, for the king.
